I've been an editor since 1994. In that time I’ve edited over forty-five print issues of three different award-winning literary magazines and one general interest quarterly, working with hundreds of writers, emerging and established, to get their writing into print. I was on the staff of Black Warrior Review for five years and was editor from 1997 to 1999. I was editor of New Orleans Review from 1999 to 2012 (check out "Crescent City Blues," Tony D'Souza's review of my post-Katrina issue of NOR here). And I’m the founding editor of Midwest Review, editing that journal from 2015-2022. I currently work as a freelance manuscript consultant and developmental editor on fiction, nonfiction, and poetry manuscripts, and edit the quarterly magazine Wisconsin People & Ideas.
